Six weeks after the release of Firefox 6, Mozilla officially released the new next version for Firefox. The seventh cycle of development confirms the rapid release schedule adopted by Mozilla this year. While there are rumors regarding the idea of shortening this cycle to only five weeks, these won’t happen too soon.

- The official website that provide downloads of Firefox and Thunderbird only offer the latest version of the programs for all supported operating systems. This is done to protect users from downloading outdated, insecure or unstable versions of a software. It is therefor usually not a good idea to download and install an old version.
- Probably the best location to download old Firefox versions is the Mozilla ftp server. Here are the links pointing to the various release channels: Firefox Stable and Beta and ESR: Stable versions are listed by number, while beta versions have bx added to the number with x indicating the version of that particular beta.
- Use Virtual machine and use firefox therein. Install two versions of firefox. (Probably this is what you are looking for.) Download the older version of firefox from the archive: Mozilla.orgftpsite. Unzip to a path. Next open terminal and use the following command to add a new firefox user. Firefox -no-remote -P.

Downloading the latest version of Firefox for your PC is simple. Point your browser at the site, click 'Free Download' and you’ll automatically get the latest version that matches your PC.
If you regularly need to download another build, though, life gets more complicated. You have to follow an 'other platform' link, maybe select a 32 or 64-bit version, or follow yet another link to work your way through a list of languages.
