We did this to continue to support people in Ottawa who are grieving and in isolation. Support and Share Nights continue to take place in English on the first Tuesday of every month from 7-9 pm. In April 2020 we moved our peer support programs and memorial events to video conferencing, due to Covid-19.

Support and Share Nights take place on the first Tuesday of every month from 7-9 pm.

Support and Share Afternoons run virtually each Thursday from noon to 1:30 pm.

Our first series of virtual closed groups ran this year from October to mid-December.

As always, everyone is welcome to participate in our programs.

Tuesday Monthly Support and Share Nights

Art therapy programs online

On the first Tuesday of every month, 7-9pm, a guest speaker joins us by Webinar, followed by virtual breakout groups by specific type of loss: loss of spouse, loss of parent, sibling relative or friend, loss by suicide and for youth (grades 7-12).

In October we intend to add a bilingual break-out group, for those who are more comfortable expressing themselves in French.

Wednesday Weekly Support and Share Walks

Our weekly walks are on hold for now.

People come out simply to walk together along the trail behind the Parliament buildings.

The walk takes place every Wednesday, from 11:55 am to 1:15 pm. It starts from the foyer of the Bronson Centre, 211 Bronson Avenue.

People who feel they could benefit from some virtual peer support over video conferencing will want in our weekly Support and Share Afternoons.

This group is open to all different types of losses, and takes place every Thursday, from noon to 1:30 pm.

Closed Groups

Art Therapy Programs Online

Each Spring and Fall we hold closed groups by specific loss type. Closed groups run over 8 weeks with the same group of participants. Together with trained facilitators they explore different topics each week.

Programs

Butterfly Memorial Event

Held this year in early July, people from the Ottawa community gathered virtually, to remember and honour their loved ones. They listened to music and to the words of Scott and Anne Oake, then watched on as we released live butterflies in Beechwood's Botanical Gardens.

Art therapy can help people express their grief through active art creation. It supports emotional, creative and spiritual growth.

Tree of Life Memorial Event

Held this year at the beginning of December, the Ottawa community came together virtually. We lit candles and held a minute of silence for our loved ones. Over 100 ornaments were hung on our tree. Alana Kainz was our guest speaker, who touched, humbled and inspired us.
